Long Island Sound Study
The Long Island Sound Study (LISS) has partnered with NFWF since 2005 to deliver the Long Island Sound Futures Fund, which supports projects that restore the health and living resources of the Sound.
The LISS – a partnership of people, organizations and agencies – and NFWF began working together in 2005 to restore Long Island Sound. The road map that guides the partnership is the Long Island Sound Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan. NFWF raises funds from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Long Island Sound Funders Collaborative, corporations, and state and federal legal settlements for the Long Island Sound Futures Fund to amplify and complement the LISS conservation efforts in the watershed. The LISS provides funding support to the Long Island Sound Futures Fund, and staff work together to make sure conservation dollars are invested in the projects and places where they will do the most good.
