In FY2011, NFWF entered into new partnerships with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) focused on the restoration of the longleaf pine ecosystem, recovery of the prairie chicken, and the reduction of nutrients from the Chesapeake Bay watershed. NFWF also launched a joint program with NRCS to increase on-the-ground ecological capacity associated with targeted private land ecosystems. More than $1.5 million was awarded to support innovative public-private partnerships to assist private landowners in the conservation of declining wildlife populations.
