Hurricane Sandy Wildlife Response
In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy caused massive damage to the East Coast. In response, NFWF launched a fund to conduct rapid assessments of the ecological impacts of the storm and to support urgent remedial actions.
In consultation with our federal and state agency partners, conservation organizations and other experts, NFWF created an emergency investment strategy totaling $54.5 M. Our response focuses immediate attention and resources on projects that will rebuild key habitats and bolster populations of fish and wildlife harmed by the storm.
As always, our priority is on investments that will yield measurable conservation outcomes.
