Studying manatees on Alabama's Gulf coast is part of the day-to-day work of scientists at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Using tools like geo-location and by-sight observation, they are able to learn about these quiet, elusive animals and better understand their patterns. With support from the Recovered Oil Fund For Wildlife, administered by the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, their team hopes not just to learn about manatees in Alabama, but to foster their population's growth.
