Description:

This project seeks to (1) demonstrate shortleaf pine and pine-hardwood restoration techniques on 682 acres of residual, low-quality hardwood stands following various natural and cultural disturbances on the University of Tennessee Cumberland Forest, 2) protect the water quality and channel integrity of multiple streams (3.53 miles) and enhance 60.4 acres of riparian forests impacted by recent wildfires and invasive species, 3) consolidate comprehensive regional shortleaf pine biometric data and develop robust growth and yield models needed to make informed management and economic decisions, and 4) extend technical information to land managers and owners by hosting workshops with onsite field visits (50 individuals) and the development and distribution of subject matter extension publications (5,100 individuals).
