Project Title: Accelerating Technical Capacity to Improve Private Land Grasslands for Wildlife
Organization:
Pheasants Forever, Inc.
Project ID:
1201.17.058019
Description:

The purpose of this proposal is to provide technical assistance to private landowners in Conoco Phillips priority areas in OK & TX to improve grassland habitat for priority species on 49,500 acres. Grasslands provide multiple benefits for water, wildlife & the economy. This partnership provides customized USDA program assistance aimed at restoring/enhancing grasslands to positively effect species identified in State Wildlife Action Plans (SWAP). We will engage landowners in voluntary practices known to improve habitat for grassland birds (e.g. brush management, prescribed fire.) These practices are found within USDA EQIP and CSP. To deliver desired practices, PF/QF propose to add 2 range/wildlife conservationists (RWC) in locations as determined by a collaboration of key partners. RWC’s will develop detailed conservation plans guiding “on the ground” implantation of practices delivering outcomes listed in Working Lands for Wildlife LPCI 2.0 and goals and outcomes in SWAPs.
