Description:

Friends of the Chicago River will improve habitat quality at the headwaters of Crooked Creek through invasive species remediation and removal and native plantings. Project will restore 81 acres of Cook County Forest Preserve land to improve infiltration provided by deep-rooted native plants and enhance habitat for wildlife within Crooked Creek and the surrounding watershed.

The Crooked Creek watershed is located within the Palos-Sag Valley Region of the Forest Preserves of Cook County, near Willow Springs, Illinois (41.42’14.62N; 87.51’41.80W). Restoration work directly funded by the grant would take place on the southern end of the Cranberry Slough Nature Preserve.
