Description:

The National Audubon Society, Inc. will restore habitat in northeast Indiana on the largest and most critical marsh habitat in the Little Calumet region. Project will restore 350 acres through invasive species control to support species such as black-crowed night heron, least bitters, and black tern and help establish the Little Calumet Marsh Bird Conservation Area.

This project focuses on the largest remaining tract of potential marsh in the greater Calumet area - the west branch of the Little Calumet River. Through detailed planning the project team has specifically identified 1,287 acres having the greatest potential for restoring critical marsh function.
