Description:

The goal of this proposal is to add capacity to deliver technical assistance to landowners. We propose to hire one farm bill biologist/grassland specialist (Figure 1) to work with our team of 13 biologists, NRCS staff, USFWS partners program staff, and other NGO positions already established in the project area (Figure 2). The primary focus of this position will be to work with interested producers in developing new and updating old grazing systems to promote better plant vigor, increase soil health, improve cattle grazing, and provide increased wildlife habitat. This work will be accomplished using a full suite of programs including: Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP), USFWS partners program, and PF’s CRP grazing program (NFWF funded) along with other available programs.

The new position will be based in Faith, SD and will provide technical assistance to landowners in Corson, Dewey, Meade, Perkins and Ziebach counties in Western South Dakota.
