Restore and maintain longleaf pine habitat on private lands in proximity to Kisatchie National Forest and Fort Polk in west-central Louisiana, benefitting open pine and grassland-dependent birds, such as the red-cockaded woodpecker and northern bobwhite. Project will plant 1,200 acres of longleaf pine, implement prescribed fire on 1,500 acres, and engage at least 40 private landowners through field days, workshops and one-on-one technical assistance.
