Description:

The project will survey up to 280 miles of forest roads using the Geomorphic Road Analysis Inventory Package (GRAIP) to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of road Best Management Practices, identify sedimentation sources impacting aquatic habitat, and evaluate the condition of culverts and other road infrastructure. This project will reveal restoration opportunities that will benefit aquatic habitat utilized by endangered species and improve future firefighting efforts by identifying road safety and integrity issues in the Los Padres National Forest (LPNF) road network. Two field crews trained in the GRAIP protocols will be deployed to forest roads in and around the Zaca and Jesusita Fire scars during the summer and fall of 2017.
