Organization:
Alachua Conservation Trust, Inc.
Project ID:
6001.17.055700
Description:

Alachua Conservation Trust is currently conducting a feasibility assessment for using coastal conservation easements for sea turtle conservation in Florida pursuant to a 2015 NFWF grant. This project is evaluating the acquisition of conservation easements and other lees-than-fee interests on priority beachfront locations in order to preserve nesting sites along Florida’s entire sandy coast. Based on the positive feedback and interest that this project has garnered thus far, this grant proposal seeks additional funding for the second phase of this project for the purpose of continuing and expanding upon the original scope of the project.

Award Amount:
$48260.52
Location:
This project will evaluate the entire coastline of Florida that contains sandy beaches in order to identify target areas for our project wherein high nesting density overlaps with socio-economic factors that will make the transfer of a conservation easement practicable.
