Description:

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will enhance 10,000 acres and restore an additional 600 acres of native tallgrass prairie and oak savanna, benefiting monarch breeding, nectaring and migration habitat. The project will use a variety of techniques on public and private lands, including prescribed fire, invasive shrub and tree control, planned grazing and planting native milkweed and nectar plants.

This project will occur in ten Biologically Unique Landscapes in eastern Nebraska (see attached map). Specific counties where projects may occur include Richardson, Gage, Nemaha, Pawnee, Jefferson, Thayer, Buffalo, Kearney, Hall, Nance, Polk, Antelope, Pierce, Stanton, Knox, Cedar and Dixon.
