Funding from the Western Waters Program will allow the Siskiyou Resource Conservation District, in coordination with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, to work directly with the Scott Valley Irrigation District - the largest surface water diverter in the watershed - to identify, prioritize and develop voluntary water conveyance and on-farm irrigation improvements. Outreach, coordination and technical assistance will progress the conversation and facilitate water conservation projects that could involve instream flow augmentation to the Scott River for the benefit of coho salmon (a threatened species), Chinook salmon, steelhead trout, and other aquatic life.
