The FWC will assess ecosystem impact to coastal mangrove forests and marsh habitats in SW Florida from the Florida Keys to Tampa Bay. Damage assessments will build upon existing field sites to maximize before / after data. Work will focus on photographic recording of damage (defoliation, mortality, and habitat structure), plus some field work soil sampling (redistribution of sediments, elevation change, etc.). Work will feed into prioritization of ongoing and future recovery work should funds come available.
