The Longleaf Allliance, Inc. will translocate 20 red-cockaded woodpeckers (RCW) from the Francis Marion National Forest to state lands and private properties enrolled in the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources safe harbor program in the South Carolina coastal plain. Project will improve the demographic and genetic health of this endangered species, supporting the objectives of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's RCW Recovery Plan.
