Description:

The Nature Conservancy - North Carolina Chapter will establish longleaf pine habitat and increase the capacity of land managers to enhance habitat quality through a seasonal burn crew and burn contractors within the Sandhills region of North Carolina, which is anchored by Fort Bragg and the Sandhills Game Lands. The Nature Conservancy and NC Wildlife Resources Commission will collaborate to establish 410 acres of longleaf pine and enhance an additional 30,000 acres of existing longleaf habitat with prescribed fire, benefiting the federally endangered red-cockaded woodpecker and other at-risk species.
