The goal is to protect critical habitat for bull trout in the Upper Sycan Watershed through 3 miles of fencing and hardened water gaps for cattle. On Green Diamond Resource Company land, the project will limit cattle access to Long Creek in grazed meadows to benefit instream habitat conditions, especially with respect to spawning gravels, redds and refugia. This ~1 mile of fencing was completed in 2019 with match funding (see map), but then burned in the Bootleg Fire of 2021. This fencing will be rebuilt in 2022/2023 with existing allocated funds.
