The purpose of this project is to eradicate infestations of invasive tamarisk (Tamarix ramosissima) from streams within the Redrock Canyon-Santa Ynez River, Headwaters-Santa Ynez River, and Mono Creek watersheds -- large areas within the Los Padres National Forest affected by the 2007 Zaca Fire. The eradication of tamarisk infestations along 35 miles of streams in the target watersheds will improve ecosystem health and prevent further spread of this destructive species in and around the Dick Smith Wilderness.

The Redrock Canyon-Santa Ynez River and Headwaters-Santa Ynez River watersheds are located northeast of Santa Barbara and are entirely within Santa Barbara County. The target watersheds are mostly within the Los Padres National Forest.
