Conservation Program(s):
Sagebrush Landscapes Program
Project Title: Gunnison Sage-grouse Collaborative Action Plan Project and Plan Development
Organization:
Wetland Dynamics, LLC
Project ID:
2503.18.060057
Description:

The Gunnison Sage-grouse (GUSG) is a Federally Threatened species. While significant conservation efforts have been made, a plan is needed to identify the best conservation actions to implement to maintain the species in perpetuity. As a result, NFWF is leading a project to develop the GUSG Collaborative Action Plan (CAP). The CAP is an investment action plan primarily focusing on satellite populations of GUSG. The CAP will help to identify and prioritize on the ground projects to benefit GUSG in each population so that when funding for projects is available partners will have tools and guidance on where to focus project work. NFWF is funding Wetland Dynamics to act as the CAP project coordinator and to work in partnership with federal and state agency partners and local counties. The objective of the CAP is to sustain both the Gunnison Basin and satellite populations of GUSG for future generations and, ultimately, to reduce the need for regulation.
