Description:

This project will increase green lineage Colorado River cutthroat stream miles in Southwest Colorado through a reclamation project on Road Beaver Creek, a small mountain stream located southwest of Gunnison, CO. Road Beaver Creek flows from BLM Land onto private property owned by Deldarita Ranch. Barret ditch diversion is located near the boundary line and is currently in disrepair. The constructed fish barrier will also serve as an upgraded Barret ditch diversion. The project consists of three phases: 1) Construction of a fish barrier to ensure no non-native fish will move upstream 2) Partnering with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to perform a reclamation project on the creek to eradicate non-native brook trout 3) Stocking of green lineage Colorado River cutthroat trout adding 7 ½ miles of native trout stream to Southwest Colorado.
