Description:

Quail Forever and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists will enhance or restore 1,000 acres of habitat for grassland bird species identified as targets in various plans including the Partners in Flight Land Bird Plan, the Texas and Oklahoma State Wildlife Action Plans, and the Oaks and Prairie Joint Venture Grassland Bird Conservation Plan. Restoration will occur on private land through a partnership with the Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture Grassland Restoration Incentive Program (GRIP), which provides direct payments to private landowners in return for conducting practices such as brush removal, reseeding native grasses, prescribed burning and prescribed grazing.
