Description:

In a unique partnership involving Cotton Incorporated, John Deereā€™s AgPro, American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Quail Forever/Pheasants Forever and other partners, this project will create new technical assistance capacity focusing in the Savannah Project Area for Bobwhite through the hiring, training, and work of a Precision Agriculture & Conservation Specialist. Through coordination with the project partners, this individual will: 1) work directly with at least 50 farmers and their trusted advisers to analyze precision agriculture data in the Savanna bobwhite and other Working Lands for Wildlife species geography to improve 1,200 acres; 2) identify positive economic return opportunities through Farm Bill and other conservation programs with these farmers and their on-farm advisers; and 3) conduct outreach and promotion efforts to increase awareness of the benefits of integrating precision ag and sub-field Return-on-Investment (ROI) metrics with precision conservation programs.

The primary emphasis for technical assistance will be the Savanna Project Area for Bobwhite quail in Georgia. The secondary region includes overlapping Working land target species/projects, cotton production, and John Deere dealership territories between North Carolina to Texas.
