Description:

The Upper Macoupin Creek (UMC) Watershed in Macoupin County, Illinois has been identified as a high priority watershed for nonpoint source phosphorus (P) loading to the Mississippi River by the State of Illinois. This project will provide targeted technical assistance and one -on-one conservation planning to agricultural producers in the UMC through the creation of one new full-time position. This project proposes outreach to over 300 individuals resulting in over 300 BMP recommendations, a reduction of 3,000 lbs. of P, and 15,000 acres under improved soil and nutrient management over the course of three years.
