The proposed project would initiate conversion of fences to wildlife-friendly standards to benefit pronghorn daily and seasonal migration. Twelve miles of interior pasture fences have been identified to initiate conversion to wildlife-friendly standards. Primary project goals are to identify crossing points currently used by wildlife to document frequency/ease/difficulty of use prior to and following fence using camera traps and collar data from an adjacent concurrent study.
This study area is an initial point of interest in a larger area within the Medicine Bow Pronghorn Herd Unit in central Wyoming (see attached maps later in this document). If this initial camera trap and fence conversion project corroborates observations of migratory movements, results will used to justify expansion and additional fence conversions in adjacent areas.
