The Chisago Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD), in close partnership with the USDA NRCS North Branch field office staff, will utilize the funding to provide technical assistance to landowners in the Lower St. Croix Watershed in Chisago County, Minnesota, which is a USDA NRCS priority watershed in the Mississippi River Basin Initiative (MRBI). Technical assistance will focus on improving local water quality by reducing phosphorus and sediment loading from agricultural lands by developing conservation plans and through enrollment in federal Farm Bill programs including EQIP. A minimum of 50 conservation plans will be developed in the watershed over the three year grant period.
