NFWF Grant Profile

Conservation Program(s):
ConocoPhillips SPIRIT of Conservation
Project Title: Restoring Grassland and Riparian Habitats in South and Trans-Pecos Texas for Birds, Pronghorn, Monarch Butterflies, and Other Migratory Species
Organization:
American Bird Conservancy
Project ID:
1201.18.062818
Description:

With our conservation partners, including Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Park Service (and many others), we work to fill gaps in capacity and funding for implementing critically important habitat restoration and enhancement projects that support birds, other wildlife, and people. We propose to scale up these efforts by working with additional private landowners to conduct grassland and riparian/wetland restoration and enhancement activities on at least 1,000 acres in the Trans-Pecos region and South Texas, across a significant portion of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s ConocoPhillips SPIRIT of Conservation Program’s focal areas.

Award Amount:
$77713.00
Location:
Our location spans across the Rio Grande Joint Venture geography in Texas, including the Trans Pecos region and South Texas. Specific project sites will depend on the willingness of landowners to participate in the program and the potential of activities to improve habitat for target species.
