Restore and enhance longleaf pine habitat on private lands adjacent to and surrounding the Kisatchie National Forest and Fort Polk in west-central Louisiana, benefitting open pine and grassland-dependent birds, such as the red-cockaded woodpecker and northern bobwhite. Project will engage private landowners, forestry practitioners and agency staff through field days and workshops. Technical assistance will be provided to willing private landowners to restore and enhance 2,700 acres of longleaf pine habitat.
