NFWF Grant Profile

Engage private landowners to restore and enhance longleaf pine forests on private lands in southern Mississippi to benefit birds such as northern bobwhite and Bachman's sparrow, and imperiled reptiles such as gopher tortoise and black pine snake. Project will reach 300 private landowners through workshops and technical assistance, and restore and manage 2,000 acres of longleaf habitat through plantings and prescribed burning, including with support of a veteran's fire crew.
