NFWF Grant Profile

Conduct a study to genetically characterize the federally endangered Sneed pincushion cactus, endemic to the Chihuahuan Desert mountains of southwestern Texas and southern New Mexico. Project will clarify the relationships among the isolated populations, determine whether distinct elements are present, provide needed insight for consultations and management decisions, and meet goals outlined in the Recovery Plan for Lee and Sneed pincushion cacti.
