NFWF Grant Profile

Collect decommissioned fishing nets from the shores of the island of Maui, Hawaii by communication with local commercial fishermen that utilize harbors on Maui. Project will convert to energy six tons of nets, resulting in less polluted beaches and reefs and reducing the negative impact derelict fishing nets can have on threatened and endangered species, including sea turtles, corals, Hawaiian monk seals, and humpback whales.
