Accelerate longleaf pine habitat restoration and enhancement on more than 20,900 acres of public and private land in west Georgia and east Alabama, benefitting red-cockaded woodpecker, gopher tortoise and other at-risk species. Project will enhance and maintain existing longleaf pine habitat with prescribed fire and forest thinning, establish longleaf pine through plantings, and engage landowners through outreach and technical assistance, focusing on lands around Fort Benning.
