Restore, maintain and protect more than 60,000 acres of longleaf pine habitat on public and private lands in the South Carolina coastal plain, benefitting birds and imperiled amphibians. Project will deploy a seasonal fire crew to increase prescribed burning, expand private landowner engagement through a forest landowners association, protect working forests and longleaf pine habitat through voluntary conservation easements, and host a fire festival to build a culture supportive of burning.
