This project will restore prairie habitat for Taylor’s checkerspot butterfly, a federally endangered species, in Thurston County, Washington, through seed and plant production and habitat management activities across five sites. Habitat restoration and subsequent checkerspot reintroductions will promote recovery of the species, specifically allowing the Department of Defense to gain credit on ACUB lands adjacent to Joint Base Lewis McChord, to facilitate ongoing training needs on base and provide relief from regulatory burden.
