Maintain and restore the unique montane longleaf ecosystem that bridges ecological connectivity from the coastal longleaf ecosystem into the foothills of the Appalachians through the increase of prescribed fire capacity and support of reforestation efforts. Project will retain three prescribed fire crews and add a full-time regional burn boss to burn 41,500 acres, restore 2,125 acres of longleaf through plantings, and will target 160 landowners with outreach and education.
