NFWF Grant Profile

Improve community engagement of Richmond's Highland Park neighborhood to address concerns around gentrification and displacement at a critical time for the community given planned greening efforts underway. Project will add to the tree canopy both at street level and in community green spaces, including small-scale urban forests, and demonstrate that disparate impacts from the urban heat island effect are not an inevitable outcome for low-and-moderate income communities.
