Conduct barred owl removals to assess stomach samples for a genetics-based diet analysis in California’s coastal redwood region in Mendocino and Sonoma Counties, mainly on lands owned by Jackson State Demonstration Forest, California State Parks, and Redwood Timber Company. Project will genetically screen intestinal contents for prey consumed by removed barred owls and conduct call-based surveys to inform occupancy modeling for Northern spotted owl and barred owls.
