The ongoing range expansion of barred owls into the Pacific Northwest and California’s redwood region poses an existential threat to northern spotted owls. Projct will conduct barred owl removals in Headwaters Forest Reserve and other BLM properties in Humboldt County and to genetically screen intestinal contents for prey they are consuming in old-growth redwood forests.
