NFWF Grant Profile

Conduct the first formal bycatch risk assessment for Laysan albatross (black-footed albatross) in the Mexican Pacific, by linking small scale and commercial fishery data with data gathered through NFWF-funded projects during the past decade including remote sensing and albatross tracking information. Project will model the overlap between species distribution and fisheries to promote sustainable fishing practices and seabird conservation by identifying bycatch risk areas and sharing findings with stakeholders.
