Holaniku (Kure Atoll) sits at the far northwestern end of Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument located in the center of the Pacific Ocean. Green Island, the only permanent island within Holaniku,is 3.5 miles in circumference with an area of 222 acres (188 acres of vegetation cover).
