Bringing Trees to Detroit
Most people don’t know that Detroit was once known as the “Paris of the Midwest” due to its leafy boulevards. Even fewer people know that the city lost well over half a million trees from 1950 to 1980 due to disease, urbanization and neglect.
NFWF is glad to partner with the Bezos Earth Fund to help The Greening of Detroit reforest the city. Tree plantings will help to reduce flooding in under-resourced neighborhoods, contribute to existing park improvement efforts, and enhance public green space for community residents.
By working together, we can provide conservation solutions to complex issues.
