Sylvamo and NFWF began working together to improve management of large forest blocks through the Northeast Forests and Rivers Fund in 2024. The fund’s investments are targeted to contiguous forest blocks of at least 5,000 acres across New England and eastern New York where a range of forest management practices are implemented that create a diversity of age and habitat structure for native bird species like golden-winged warbler, and where populations of Atlantic salmon, brook trout and river herring can most benefit from removal of barriers that impede fish passage. This conservation partnership supports NFWF’s efforts to restore stream and riparian habitats, improve upland forest health and increase grassland bird habitat.
