National Wildlife Refuge Friends

Refuge Friends organizations are effective co-stewards of important natural resources within the National Wildlife Refuge System. They develop and implement projects that benefit both wildlife and people. The very existence of the National Wildlife Refuge System is credited to citizens eager to protect America’s natural resources, and refuge Friends organizations continue this legacy.

Northeast Forests and Rivers Fund

Northeast Forests and Rivers Fund is dedicated to restoring and sustaining healthy forests and rivers that provide habitat for diverse native bird and freshwater fish populations in the Northeastern United States. The program annually awards competitive grants ranging from $75,000 to $300,000 each.

New York City Environmental Fund

The New York City Environmental Fund (NYCEF) is an environmental grant program created by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to foster community stewardship of waterways, shorelines, parklands and open spaces in New York City. 

Northern Great Plains Program

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Northern Great Plains Program is designed to conserve mixed grass prairie and associated wildlife populations of the northern prairie.

Ocean Health Initiative

The Ocean Health Initiative supported projects that result in meaningful improvements to the health of threatened marine and coastal species and habitat. The Initiative engaged diverse communities, including youth and minorities, in targeted projects in key watersheds of the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico to restore fish and wildlife and their habitats and directly engage people and communities in aquatic conservation work.

Pacific Southwest Fuels Management Partnership

The Pacific Southwest Fuels Management Partnership identifies and funds fuel management projects that reduce the risk of severe wildfire, protects ecological values of U.S. Forest Service restoration investments, and reduces the chance of damage to public and private improvements near U.S. Forest Service Lands.

Papahānaumokuākea Research and Conservation Fund

The Papahānaumokuākea Research and Conservation Fund provides coordinated and collaborative research and conservation in support of effectively managing the species and habitats in the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.

Path of the Pronghorn

NFWF’s Path of the Pronghorn program helps pronghorn and other animals migrate more easily by improving fencing and removing other impediments to their passage. 

Pecos Watershed Conservation Initiative

The Pecos Watershed Conservation Initiative supports conservation projects in the Pecos River Watershed, which extends from eastern New Mexico into West Texas, and comprises a large portion of the energy-rich Permian Basin. The initiative identifies strategic conservation opportunities and works to enhance and restore the natural resources and wildlife habitat in the region.   

Pacific Gas and Electric Company Nature Restoration Grants

Pacific Gas and Electric Company's Nature Restoration Grants, a partnership with NFWF, supports community-based stewardship and restoration of vital habitats in northern and central California.
